This Simple But Costly Mistake Could Be The Thing Holding You Back from Success
When you’re stuck in quicksand, stop trying to swim your way out. Get someone to throw you a rope.
Starting a new project or skill is tough, and you’re going to get it wrong before you get it right. If you’re not making any progress, there may be something you can’t see that’s holding you back.
Let me know if you can relate to this:
Every day, you start the day out resolute and hopeful, yet the same handful of scenarios play out, usually ending with you going to be frustrated but determined to try again tomorrow.
You’re doing the wrong things, the wrong way, and in the wrong order.
…and it’s going to happen tomorrow, too.
Old programming runs deep, and if you fail to recognize it, you can stay stuck forever.
Are you defective? Delusional? Just not cut out for it? Maybe, but probably not.
My bet is that you’re running the wrong program, applying the formula for whatever your thing is right now, to the new thing.
When we don’t know what to do, or how to do it, it creates uncertainty.
Our instincts kick in and we fall back on the actions, habits, and patterns that make you good at whatever you are good at.
It feels like momentum, but it’s a false sense of accomplishment.
You’re doing things, but they’re the wrong things, in the right way, at the right time.
You’re going to suck at it before you get good. Learn to be okay with that.
Don’t try to learn everything at once. Just focus on the main thing until you get comfortable with it, and then add new pieces as you grow.
If you want to be an elite swimmer, just get in the pool.
If you want to be a chef, go boil a pot of water.
For me, it’s just write, record, and post it.
